Daphne has been my favourite Aunt - "Auntie Daf" - for just about as long as I can remember. She moved into 13 Elm Grove about the same time we moved into 4 Willow Grove, and she and my Mum (Joan) became firm friends.
I've posted a couple of relatively recent pictures of Daf and Joan together. They aren't as flattering as the early pics, but it's lovely to see how Daf and Joan were BFFs right to the end.
Daf always had something going on - travel, art, politics. She enjoyed a good grumble as much as anyone, but she always seemed to have a positive word to say as well.
I'll miss her Christmas cards, sometimes hand-painted, sometimes with a hand-written letter. And I'll miss her complaining about the politicians on both sides of the Atlantic. But I'm so glad she had an easy exit.
